Every figure on this page is produced by the same model that powers the calculator, calibrated against published UK cost guides (Checkatrade, MyBuilder, MyJobQuote, Best Builders, NJW Scaffolding). Reviewed August 2026.
Estimates assume work carried out by CISRS-carded scaffolders to NASC TG20:21 design guidance. We are an independent estimating tool, not a scaffolding contractor. How to check a scaffolder's accreditation
Scaffolders price by elevation, height and duration. Those are easy to under or overstate on the phone, which is how two quotes for the same house end up hundreds apart.
Property type, wall length, working height, number of elevations, hire period, region and extras. The same inputs, so the output is a realistic baseline rather than a guess.
You get every component itemised: area, rate per square metre, regional adjustment, extra hire weeks, permit and VAT. That is what lets you see which line item makes one quote dearer than another.
No sign-up, no obligation, and your details are never passed to a supplier unless you explicitly ask. Walking into a quote with a number already in mind changes the conversation.

Only if part of the structure sits on a public pavement or road. In that case your scaffolder needs a council licence, typically £40 to £200 a month. Scaffolding built entirely on your own driveway or garden usually needs no permit.

We calculate your range using the same variables a scaffolder prices from: property type, wall length, working height, elevations, hire duration and region. The number is a realistic band, not a guess. A site visit is still the only way to get an exact price.
No. All prices shown exclude VAT. Add 20% for a domestic job. Confirm with your scaffolder, as commercial jobs are sometimes priced differently.
Most quotes include 4 to 8 weeks of hire as standard. Extra weeks are charged separately. Running over without telling your scaffolder can trigger unexpected fees.

Your scaffolding contractor. They must inspect the structure before first use, then every 7 days after that, and again after bad weather or alterations.

Not recommended. Beyond a small domestic tower, it isn't compliant. Scaffolding above basic tower height should be put up by CISRS-trained scaffolders to meet UK safety standards. You carry some legal responsibility for using a competent contractor.

Most domestic jobs run £300 to £900 a week depending on property size and region. A single tower can be as low as £30 to £175 a week. A full-house wrap can exceed £1,000. Use the calculator above for a figure specific to your job.
Yes. London and the South East typically run 20 to 30% above the national average, driven by higher labour and permit costs.

Sometimes, but not always. It depends on the contractor. Ask for it to be itemised separately so you can see what you're paying for hire versus labour.
Ask for proof of public liability insurance and CISRS cards for the erecting team before work starts. A reputable scaffolder will have both ready to show you.
